Our main priority is to ensure the safety of all personnel
and public working in proximity to the horses as well as the welfare
of the horses themselves. Every possible effort is made to ensure
the safety of our animals and to comply with all rules regulating
their humane treatment while under working conditions.
We transport our horses with shipping boots to prevent leg injuries
and fly masks to protect their eyes. While trailering we provide
rest breaks every
2-3 hours so that they are not fatigued or unduly stressed by
the transport process. During these rest breaks the horses are off-loaded
from the trailer, provided with water and walked so that they have
chance to stretch their legs. High-quality feed is always available
in the trailer during transportation and at all rest stops.
While our performance horses are high-caliber athletes who are
capable of completing 50 miles rides across difficult terrain in
under 7 hours, they are treated with the utmost care. We perform
multiple health checks on the horses every day, whether at home
or at events, to make sure that they are not over-worked or injured.
When the horses are not actively working, our wranglers monitor
them and see to their care, providing feed & water at all times.
They are groomed and checked so that they are comfortable, rested
and ready for the next educational presentation.
Our training techniques are humane and never based on force.
We prepare our horses using positive rewards and correct choice
conditioning so that they become willing partners with their riders.
The trust and bonding that result helps horses overcome their natural
fears or undesirable behaviors.
Horses have distinct and highly individual personalities that
predispose them for certain tasks. Several of our horses are very
curious and inquisitive by nature which makes them ideal candidates
for handling props with their mouths. These horses also are natural
hams that enjoy being the center of attention, have no fear of cameras
and love to give a "performance" making them ideal for
crowds, parades, festivals and lights and cameras.
Let us know what your special needs are, so that we can condition
the horses for the specific behavior required. |
